SV Restless

The crane lifting the engine in the first time. I dropped the engine in in order to accurately set up the engine beds and the aqua drive system, then took it out prior to sand blasting, and put it back in later for the final time. It's a new Perkins 4-236, and it was 17 years before I started it for the first time. But I kept a big breaker bar near it, and turned it over by hand a few revs every time I thought of it, which was at least once a month. It was pickled from the factory, and I figured that if I ran it I would then have to winterize it, fog it, etc. As it was it started in 1/2 a revolution 17 years later, and doesn't leak a drop nor burn any oil. So I guess we got lucky. Back to Gallery
